Nesselande Humanitas

The Nesselande district lies on the outskirts of Rotterdam, by the Zevenhuizerplas lake. The plan for the centre – an urban development plan designed Joan Busquets – includes two housing complexes by MVSA: Humanitas and New Port.

The Humanitas complex offers space for 182 homes, varying between 45 and 160 m², that are adaptable to the residents’ changing circumstances. The homes are situated on the first to fifth floors, while a community centre, pharmacy, library, welfare, educational and childcare centre, restaurant and multifunctional hall are all located in the base of the centre. The building is arranged around a central courtyard, and is defined by a clear alternation between closed and open volumes.
